We can’t control how you look after yourselves, but we can give you a guide on how to look after your underwear. There are only a few rules to keep them looking their best.
The Basics
Every article of clothing has a label in it; it has to have the following information on it. The size, the material content, the country of origin and care Instructions.
There are five icons that denote how to care for the item...Washing, bleaching, drying, ironing, and dry cleaning.
Let's deal with the ones that have the same rules when it comes to our underwear.
The Symbols
Bleaching - Never use bleach on any of our underwear
Drying - Always line or flat dry as per the label, never tumble dry
Ironing - We wouldn't iron any of our underwear (except cotton/bamboo products).
Dry Cleaning - None of our products require dry cleaning
So that dealt with, we only have washing to worry about...
Hand Wash
These items require a bit more love to keep them at their best...
- You can use the delicate setting on your machine if you can’t be arrssed, but they won’t last as long.
- Always use cool water.
- Always use liquid detergent, pods won't dissolve properly.
- Wash similar colours together.
- Soak for 30-40 minutes, moving the underwear around in the water every 5-10 minutes.
- Do not intensely wring the underwear out, squeezing them is generally enough.
- Never use fabric softener, it reeks havoc on materials.
Washing Additives
Stain Removers
Using stain removers like Vanish etc work well, but as with any additive check how they react. Make sure you use the correct one for colours and for whites.
Colour Catcher Sheets
These are sheets that catch stray dye when washing your underwear. They are handy for designs containing two contrasting colours to keep them looking their best.
